Report Of KSPHC’s Child Labour Campain Held On 5th OCTOBER 2005.
KSPHC in its initiative to eradicate child labour at all its construction sites held a massive sensitization campaign at Yavanika Conference hall , Bangalore, involving high profile officers from the department of Labour,Government of Karnataka, NGO’s such as APSA(association for promoting social action) Paraspara trust, Child Welfare Committee and representatives from International Labour organization etc. ( photographs enclosed )
A panel discussion was held and various people interacted including the contractors of KSPHC projects. People came in large numbers including the press and made the occasion a memorable affair. A child labour lit the lamp and the show began with involvement of all those present in an interactive session where questions were asked and experts answered. Those unaware of this social evil of employing child labour were thus educated. Brochures and pamphlets were distributed in both English and Kannada along with a press note. Power point presentations were made by experts to create awareness. Rehabilitation packages were proposed by KSPHC which included starting of Child labour schools at major site locations to avoid children becoming victims of child labour as they migrate with their family at construction spots and also smaller number of child labours if identified will be rehabilitated by the nearest committed NGO. Constant vigil is being kept by KSPHC officers to see that these actions are implemented. Brochures and pamphlets were sent to all the contractors who are registered with KSPHC and also those involved in our ongoing projects. Feedback received was being immediately attended to. The entire program is being uploaded on www.ksphc.org/csr. |
