The Prison Department vide letter No. ADM/DA/AYO/CR-3/2006-07, Dated 17th April 2007 have informed that it proposes to take up the following works with funds given by GOK for the year 2007-08.

1. Chikkaballapura – Sub Jail for 100 prisoners & 14 Staff Qtrs at a cost of Rs.350 lakhs.
2. 8 Qtrs for Chief Warder, Head Warder & 2 Qtrs. to Assistant Superintendent & Jailer for Tumkur & Madikeri. 1 Jailer & 4 Chief Warder Qtrs. at Bagalkote, Haveri, Udupi, Koppal at a cost of Rs.250 Lakhs.
3. Aland - Repair works for Barracks, Cell. Bath & WC & in 2nd stage Admin block, kitchen, Ladies Barracks, Main Compound Wall, Water & Sanitary Supply and Electrical works at a cost of Rs.100 lakhs.

An amount of Rs. 350.00 lakhs was received on 15.02.2008 for Chikkaballapura work. The estimate for Chikkaballapura Dist. Prison has been counter signed by Prison department. Tendering is under progress. The amount for the works at Sl. No. 2 & 3 is yet to be deposited with KSPHC to take up the works.
